Update: California Cash for Appliances

According to http://www.cash4appliances.org/ as of 4:50PM Standard Pacific time there has only been 5,900 Applications received. Doing a rough estimate at an average of $150 a rebate that is still shy of $900,000. California has 35 million dollars in funds to give out for the Cash for Appliances Program.

The program ends when the state runs out of money or after May 23rd

At this rate there is still plenty of time to cash in your old appliance and get that brand new energy efficient appliance you have been waiting for!

Yes. You heard right. The government is launching its California Cash for Appliance program starting Thursday, April 22nd!

Take advantage of this once in a lifetime opportunity!

Washers receive a 100$ rebate!

Refrigerators receive a 200$ rebate!

You must hurry though as California is giving away these rebates as a first come, first serve basis.


To make sure you receive your rebate Airport Home Appliance will be open 11PM Thursday night and remain open all Thursday morning so that you receive your rebate!


There are still PG & E, Manufacturer and other rebates that can be stacked on top of these rebates!

How does it work?


1.) Find a approved appliance @ Airport Home Appliance (or other retailer from the partners list)
2.) Buy the approved appliance from Airport Home Appliance.
3.) Fill in the rebate application form found HERE.
4.) Recycle your old appliance with a certified recycling center or hauling company and get a signed recycling form.
5.) Mail the rebate application form, the signed recycling form, a copy of your sales receipt, a copy of your utility bill (to prove residency), and the EnergyGuide label from the appliance to:

Rules

--Must be a California resident with a valid street address. Post office box addresses do not qualify.
-Must purchase a new California eligible appliance to replace an existing model. A list of eligible appliances is available at: www.Cash4Appliances.org/products/.

-Make purchase during rebate period of April 22, 2010 to May 23, 2010, from a California retailer. No out-of-state or internet purchases. (Note: This is a first-come, first-server program. Funds may run out before the program ends on May 23rd. The sooner the rebate is turned in the better.)
-Must recycle the existing, inefficient appliance through a California Certified Recycler. Recycling services may also be provided by Platinum retailers, utility-buy back programs, and your city or county governments.
-Consumers can receive one rebate for each type of appliance. Separate rebate and recycling forms are required for each rebate.
-The appliance must be installed (hooked up) before submitting the rebate claim. The consumer, if asked, must allow access for an inspector to verify installations.
-Must submit a completed rebate application within 30 days of the date of purchase that includes proof of residency, purchase and recycling.

-The complete rebate application must include ALL of the following:

1. Completed and signed rebate application form with all required consumer, retailer and appliance information (brand, model & serial number)
2. Completed and signed proof of recycling form with all required consumer, recycler or hauler, and replaced appliance information
3. Copy of the sales receipt for the purchased appliance
4. Copy of the consumer's most recent utility bill dated 60 days or less (to prove residency)
5. The original, bright yellow EnergyGuide label from the purchased appliance.
